Contact Database is an SQL Server-based
facility for the storage and maintenance of telephone directory data. The
directory will typically be a list of staff members and client contacts.
The database is currently used by the desktop applications Contact Center
Express Desktop and Agent. They display the full directory of database
contacts, however, the type of information on those contacts can be
customized to suit your needs.
Contact Database offers a wide range of column headings for an
administrator to choose from. The column name structure is modelled on the
configuration of Microsoft Outlook's Contacts folder.
In this example, Contact Center Express Desktop presents the Contact
Database directory using a column display list made up of: Business (BusinessPhone),
Email (EmailAddress), First Name (Microsoft Outlook field name, FirstName),
Home (HomePhone), Last Name (LastName), Mobile (MobilePhone) and Work Fax (BusinessFax).

Intuitive contact grouping
Contact Database also gives you the ability to group related
contacts (indicated by the blue background). Depending on the size and make up of your company, groups can make
the process of finding individual contacts more intuitive. A group contact
record can be named after a department or work area, or it can be attached
to a person with whom those people are closely associated, for example, a
manager or administrator. If your company is large and contact association
makes searching easier, Contact Database also allows you to place
groups within groups.
