License Director is a central repository for all Contact Center Express run-time licenses. It manages licensing by accepting license requests from Contact Center Express applications. It only issues the number of licenses that have been purchased or made available for trial. If the number of licenses requested exceeds the number purchased, the request is denied.

Once the application is issued a license, it automatically ‘checks in’ with the server every three minutes. This auditing process informs License Director that the application is still in use. When the application is closed, it automatically sends a release license request and License Director releases the license into the available license pool.

The number of purchased run-time licenses is encrypted in a license key. There are five types of license key:

  • CCE Voice

  • CCE Multimedia

  • CCE IVR

  • CCE MS-CRM

  • CCE IClarity

License Director has no direct user interaction once it has been installed. License information is added, deleted and modified using the Contact Center Express Control Panel.
